What does it mean to be a local business?

At Fogtown, we really get a kick out of using Maine ingredients, and working with other local businesses and farmers. The Foglight Maine Pilsner really epitomizes this:

The grain in this beer is 100% Maine grown & malted by our friends @mainemalthouse and @blueoxmalthouse
Brewed in Maine-made stainless tanks, at our humble Ellsworth taproom.

Spent grains go to local farms and compost facilities like @peggy_rockefellerfarm who uses it as feed for their chickens and lambs, and @chickadeecompost who turns it into compost!

Thanks for supporting us so we can keep doing what we love and supporting our community!

#smallbusiness #smallfarm #maine #spentgrain #compostPeach Special is here! 🍑

Now that @fogtown_jon ‘s young peach trees are finally starting to ripen, we’re so excited to share this pizza special with you!

Maine-grown arugula, ricotta, pancetta & burrata. Finished with fresh rosemary from the Beer Garden and an enchanting house reduction of choke-berries from our Aronia bushes.

Available until all the peaches are gone.We do a lot of fun (and sometimes whimsical) projects & collaborations, but making the “Winnowing” Wild Mine Blueberry Wine is one of our favorites.

Nothing brings us greater joy than to work with local small businesses and growers & to put would-be food waste to a higher use.

Local farms rake berries from their fields and sort (or “winnow”) out the berries that are too small or clumped to sell. Often these tasty rejects are spread back on the fields as compost. But if we show up at just the right time, we can take a truckload for ciders & wines!

Over the years, we’ve modified traditional methods (and invented some new ones) for turning locally gleaned goodies - like apples, rhubarb, oysters, spruce, mushrooms & blueberries - into complex foods & beverages that seek to pay homage to the rugged Downeast landscape and the wondrous people who grow and farm here.

Our 2025 Vintage Winnowing is now available in the taproom. 😘🫐

#wildmaineblueberries #blueberrywine #acadia #downeastmaineStill life with Maine Coast.

Don’t forget the flagships. This one’s made with Maine-grown & malted barley and wheat. See ya in the garden! Some big nights here at Fogtown this August.
We love seeing all your smiling faces in the Beer Garden.

As we get into back-to-school season here, we’ll be saying fond farewell to some of our great summer employees. So we’ll need some help feeding the masses for the rest of the high season.

We’re looking for Back of House help. Interested? Reach out to beer@fogtownbrewing.com or DM us here. It’s about the process.
We start with wholesome ingredients. Maine-grown flour, Maine maple syrup, a pinch of salt. Our dough is house-made, and cold fermented for 48 hours before final mixing and proofing.

Pies are hand-stretched and wood-fire cooked to order.
Enjoy!“What do the English think about Maine beer?”
Fogtown’s founder has been spending time in Sheffield in South Yorkshire this year, so we thought we’d ask the question.

We brought some Fogtown cans across the pond to share with our new mates. We got bogged down in some metric/imperial arguments, but all in all a positive response! Please enjoy this rather whimsical mini documentary on what we found.

Many thanks to the good-natured people of Sheffield, and to the historians at the @bishopshousesheffieldSAVE THE DATE

Our 9th annual Fogtoberfest is a little bit earlier this year, so mark your calendars.

This was a fun collaboration with our friends at @tidalgraphicsmdi
This season, our team has worked hard to build our menu of quick bites, increase our oven capacity, and provide all kinds of grab and go food for hungry folk on the move.

Occasionally, our community shows up en masse & our custom pizza oven can’t quite keep up. So this sign is our latest attempt to provide some transparency into our wait times. The more you know…

Thanks and see ya in the beer garden!
With love,
